Dan’s Toy Shop performs all of the inspections and maintenance recommended by Toyota, Lexus and Scion. Regular services are recommended by the manufacturer at intervals based every 5000 miles (or 6 months). The majority of vehicles produced since 2011 specify a longer oil change interval, but many still require more frequent inspections and tire rotations. Every vehicle comes with a maintenance guide, which outlines the services and inspections recommended by the manufacturer, and required under the terms of the new car warranty.
Our climate and driving conditions can be extremely hard on vehicles. In addition to the extreme summer heat and poorly-maintained roads, many people in the Tucson area spend little or no time on the highway—where the least wear occurs. Some of the services and inspections specified by the maintenance guide are different under those “Severe Operating Conditions”. Unfortunately, new car dealers are not required to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Individual dealerships will often recommend a number of additional services not recommended by the manufacturer—many of which are not needed at all.
Dan’s Toy Shop performs an inspection of the entire vehicle at every service—at no additional charge. We then recommend maintenance items based on a combination of experience, manufacturer recommendations, vehicle model, and the results of those inspections. Because every client uses their vehicle differently, inspection-based maintenance can reduce maintenance costs and improve reliability—while still meeting the requirements of the new car warranty. In many circumstances, knowing which vehicles will benefit from additional maintenance can save our clients thousands of dollars in future repair costs. As part of our regular inspections, we notify our clients of any services that will be needed at the next visit—letting them plan ahead for those expenses.
