WHY PAY THE DEALER?

Are you wondering if your vehicle is affected by the Toyota airbag recall? Well, good news!! We’ve got some information for you regarding that very subject. Here is the information that can be found at the Toyota website

Toyota has initiated Safety Recalls for certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with Takata Front Passenger Airbag Inflators and certain Toyota vehicles equipped with Takata Front Driver Airbag Inflators.
Update 6/15/2015
Takata has filed Defect Information Reports with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) concerning Front Passenger Airbag Inflators.
As a result, Toyota has expanded the Safety Recall vehicle population to include additional model years of vehicles. Please refer below for specific details.
Only the models and model years listed below are equipped with the Inflators subject to recall.
Front Driver Airbag Inflator
Toyota has initiated a nationwide Safety Recall related to Driver’s Front Dual-Stage Airbag Inflators in 2004 – 2005 model year RAV4 vehicles. This is the only Toyota model in the United States and United States Territories involving Driver’s Front Airbag Inflators. If your vehicle is involved, the Driver’s Front Airbag Inflator will be replaced.
Parts are not currently available for this activity. We will notify you directly by first class mail when parts become available in your area and invite you in to your local dealer for the remedy. Please contact your Toyota dealer or the Customer Assistance team whose contact information is noted in the frequently asked questions below. They stand ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have related to this important safety recall.

Nationwide Safety Recall F0L:
Front Passenger Airbag Inflator
Toyota has initiated two separate Safety Recall actions related to Takata Front Passenger Airbag Inflators. One is a nationwide recall, and a second recall is focused on the Gulf Coast and other areas within the United States and United States Territories with consistently high absolute humidity.
A vehicle may be included in either the nationwide Takata Passenger Inflator recall activity or the regional Passenger Inflator recall. In both recalls, if your vehicle is involved, the Front Passenger Airbag Inflator will be replaced. The two Safety Recalls include the following vehicles:
 Nationwide Safety Recall DSF/DSC:
  • 2003-2007 Corolla
  • 2003-2007 Corolla Matrix
  • 2003-2006 Tundra
  • 2002-2007 Sequoia
  • 2002-2007 Lexus SC430
Regional Safety Recall E04/ELG:
  • 2003-2007 Corolla
  • 2003-2007 Corolla Matrix
  • 2003-2006 Tundra
  • 2002-2007 Sequoia
  • 2002-2007 Lexus SC430

High absolute humidity is related to higher temperature, southern coastal areas and is not the same as high relative humidity.
Test results from the Passenger Inflators recovered from consistently high absolute humidity areas have shown a possible elevated risk for Passenger Airbag Inflator rupture. For this reason, we are prioritizing the remedy of vehicles in high absolute humidity areas.
If your vehicle is not located in, or has not ever been registered in, the areas with consistently high absolute humidity (such as, Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Gulf Coast and US Territories), your vehicle will be included in the nationwide safety recall.
Current replacement parts supply is limited. Our plan is to prioritize vehicles located in the high absolute humidity areas and release parts in waves (phases) for vehicles involved in the nationwide recall.
We will notify you directly by first class mail when parts become available in your area and invite you in to your local dealer for the remedy. Please contact your Toyota or Lexus dealer, or the Customer Assistance team whose contact information is noted in the frequently asked questions below. They stand ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have related to these important safety recalls.
Please remember, the Front Passenger Airbag is designed to inflate only in certain moderate to severe crashes. If you are operating a vehicle involved in these Safety Recall actions, you should locate passengers into the rear seating positions to minimize risk.

The Toyota website is updated as often as new information arises. It is a good idea to check out their website and possibly bookmark it on your computer for easy future reference. If your vehicle is not listed, then this recall does not apply to you. Toyota also has a handy VIN decoder on their website that will decode your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and tell you if your vehicle has any open recalls.

"After taking my 10 year old Prius to the dealer too many times, I am so glad to have stumbled on a place that is conveniently located, fairly priced, and is knowledgeable about the Prius system.  I called last minute, but they were able to work with me to get my car in.  I have no complaints about my experience here, and plan on taking my car here for the foreseeable future." ~ Kamryn C.

"I have been using Dan's, since I purchased my Toyota Celica convertible in 2007. They have been very responsive, fair priced, and informative about what I need to keep this vehicle on the road. It's nearing 200,000 miles and still going.  The people who work there are very nice, and it's a welcoming environment. Unlike the dealership where I feel sometimes the only thing they care about is getting as much money as Possible." ~ Bret P.

"I cannot say enough good things about Dan's Toy Shop.  Their work is absolutely top notch.  They seem to be wizards at finding and fixing problems that other shops can neither find nor fix.  Their prices are extremely competitive.  Their service is friendly and professional.  They are very good at informing me about what work is needed, what work is not needed, and what work might be coming up in the future.  They go out of their way to be helpful (like arranging rental cars at discounts when my car had to be left overnight)." ~ D. "I use Dan's Toy Shop for auto service. They performed maintenance work of my car during my last visit. Their work is neat and it has been a good experience. They are probably the best when working on a Prius. It is a hybrid so it takes special knowledge to work on it." ~ M. Weininger
